
Facts of the Case – In March2023, Deputy CM of Delhi Mr. Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI in connection of alleged corruption in formulation and implementation of the liquor policy 2021-22, which has been now scrapped down by the Government.
Manish Sisodia was arrested after the questioning by the CBI for straight 8hours saying that h was not cooperating with the officers and he must be kept under the custody for the detailed investigation of the case. He was alleged by the Delhi Chief Secretary in his report, alleged that he had violated the Statutory Provisions of the Delhi Excise Policy and which has occurred a huge financial loss to the Government and alleged that it was done for the benefit of the private liquor vendors only.
With this Enforcement Directorate has also filed charge sheet against him. On March 9th ED has fild a fresh new charge sheet on him under the Prevention Of Money Laundering Case (PMLA) 2002, in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case..
The Delhi High Court on July 3 denied bail to Sisodia in ED case. And on May 30 it had rejected his bail plea in CBI case.
Mr. Sisodia moved to the Supreme Court for the bail under CBI and ED cases.
He argued that his wife’s medical condition is not well. Her medical condition is such that it could result in mild paralysis. The court said that it is not a mild condition it is a serious medical issue and Mr. Sisodia should apply for an Interim plea for medical bail.
The matter was then posted for hearing on July 28 for interim directions.
