Supreme Court Justice PS Narasimha, on Friday, talked about the need for an institution conducting research in the field of sports so that legal support can be provided to sportspersons.
The suggestion comes in the thick of the ongoing wrestlers protest against the BJP MP and Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh who has been accused of sexual harassment.
Friday, 9th June, also marked the Foundation Day of the India International University of Legal Education and Research (IIULER), Goa. Justice Narasimha joined the foundation day celebrations and talked about the need of universities of super-specialisations in the fields of elections, administrative laws, telecom and sports.
He further also spoke about how sportsmen in India did not receive consistent institutional support as sportsmen in other countries. He says that there is a need for a dedicated world-class institution for the same.
Justice Narasimha is also the chancellor of the Bar Council of IIULER. He suggested that the University start a research center for Sports Law.
