Supreme Court Observes that newspaper reports are only Hearsay Evidence, extra-judicial Confession has no greater Credibility because newspapers reported.

In the case of Dinesh B.S V. State of Karnataka, the division bench comprising Justice Hrishikesh Roy and Justice Pankaj Mithal relied on Laxmi Raj Shetty & Anr. v. State of Tamil Nadu, (1988) 3 SCC 319 and reiterated that a newspaper report is only hearsay evidence and it can only be treated as secondary evidence under the Indian Evidence Act, 1872.
