KEYWORD: Supreme Court, PIL, Petitioner, Democratic Country

The Supreme Court on Monday started a court proceeding against Upendra Nath Dalai who failed to deposit 1 lakh Rupees that was imposed on him for filing a public interest litigation (PIL) petition to declare Satsang founder Sree Sree Thakur Anukulchandra a parmatma.

In the last hearing, Supreme Court dismissed the PIL  and held that as India is a democratic country such type of prayer cannot be made by the way of PILs.

It had, therefore, imposed a cost of Rs. 1 LAKH  on the petitioner for filing the “misconceived” plea.

The bench noted that the amount has not been yet deposited so they initiate contempt of  court proceeding against the petitioner
