New Delhi, September 11, 2023 – In a significant stride towards bolstering digital accessibility within the Indian judicial system, the eCommittee of the Supreme Court of India has launched its pioneering Regional Digital Accessibility Training Program. This initiative is geared towards empowering visually challenged court staff with the necessary skills to navigate the digital landscape effectively.

The program, which commenced at Delhi’s prestigious Judicial Academy, saw the participation of dedicated individuals from district and taluk courts across the North Zone, encompassing the national capital, Delhi. This ambitious project underscores the commitment of the Indian judiciary to create an inclusive and accessible environment for all its stakeholders.

With the increasing digitization of court procedures, it is imperative that all court staff, regardless of physical challenges, have access to the tools and knowledge needed to perform their duties effectively. The eCommittee’s training program aims to bridge the digital divide and empower visually challenged staff members to handle electronic court records, online case management systems, and other essential digital tools efficiently.

Justice [Name], the Honorable Chief Justice of India, lauded this pioneering effort, stating, “Inclusivity is the cornerstone of a just and equitable legal system. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to ensuring that every member of our court staff has equal access to digital resources and can contribute effectively to the justice delivery process.”

The Regional Digital Accessibility Training Program is expected to run for several weeks, equipping participants with valuable skills and knowledge, ultimately fostering a more accessible and efficient judicial system for all. This laudable endeavor by the eCommittee is poised to set a precedent in promoting digital inclusivity within the Indian judiciary.
