The Congress said on Saturday a Supreme Court committee tasked with examining Hindenburg’s research report on the Adani group had limited powers and could “uncover a deep connection” between the prime minister and the billionaire businessman .

The remarks came shortly after National Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar said the body would be more useful and effective than a joint parliamentary committee to investigate Adani’s matter.

“The Supreme Court Committee has very limited powers. He cannot disclose the deep connection between the prime Minister and Adani,” said AICC Secretary General Jairam Ramesh.

“Only the JPC can find the answers to HAHK (Hum Adanike Hain Kaun) 100 series of questions and more that are imerging,” he also said, adding that “JPC in 1992 and 2001 were valuable exercises.”

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also tweeted in Hindi: “They hide the truth to mislead them every day! The question remains the same – who has Rs 20,000 crore benami money in Adani’s companies?”

He also posted a photo with Adani’s name and combined the names “Ghulam, Scindia, Kiran, Himanta, Anil”. to back up his claim that these issues are being brought up to distract from the Adani issue. All of these Congress leaders left Congress and some joined the BJP, making headlines.

Ramesh commented on Gandhi’s tweet with the words “Derail, Distort, divertand defame”. This 4D policy from Mr. M.”

Pawar winked at the Supreme Court panel and said, “I’m not totally opposed to the JPC. The former JPC and I used to be the chairmen of some  JPCs. The JPC is formed by majority rule (in Parliament) in place of the CPM.” , I think the Supreme Court Committee is more useful and effective”.

The head of the NCP  also said he was unaware of the predecessors of the US Hindenburg Research, the stock market manipulation and accounting fraud in  billionaire Gautam Adani’s companies accused.

The opposition led by the Congress has been seeking a JPC probe in the Adani issue. The Adani Group has denied the allegations.

“A foreign company comments on the situation in the country. We should decide how much we focus on it. Instead (JPC) a Supreme Court panel would be more effective, Pawar added.

In an interview with NDTV, Pawar supported the Adani group and criticized the narrative surrounding Hindenburg Research’s report on the conglomerate.

“Such statements have already been made by others and there has been confusion in Parliament for several days, but this time the matter is being given disproportionate weight,” he said.
