SENIOR ADVOCATE K.V. VISHWANATHAN TO BE THE NEXT CJI OF INDIA

Senior advocate K.V.Vishwanadhan,born on 26th May 1966 who serve in that capacity until 24th May 2031 would be the next CJI after D.Y.Chandrachud. justices Sanjiv Khanna, BR Gavai, Surya Kant, BV Nagarathna, PS Narasimha, and JB Pardi Wala are the following judges who are slated to occupy this prestigious position if the rule of seniority is followed. Chief Justice Chandrachud and Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul, KM Joseph, Ajay Rastogi, and Sanjiv Khanna, the collegium system announced its decision on Tuesday. This resolution was published in the courts website. The resolution states that the collegium system has considered the names of eminent members .K.V.Vishwanathan the senior most judge is the most suitable person for this position as to be appointed as the judge and his position will enhance the representation of the bar in the composition of the supreme court as per the opinion of the collegium system. The rich and diverse experience of Vishwanathan was highlighted by the collegium system. He has appeared in cases of diverse subjects such as constitutional, criminal and commercial law.  His contributions to the capacity of amicus curae, where he was appointed to assist the court in numerous cases was also acknowledged by the resolution.

Once this resolution of the top court has been notified by the central government he will follow the steps of Justices SM Sikri, SC Roy, Kuldip Singh, Santosh Hegde, Rohinton Fali Nariman, UU Lalit, L Nageswara Rao, Indu Malhotra, and PS Narasimha. Who have been directly appointed from the bar to the supreme court. Chief Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra of the Andhra Pradesh High Court is also recommended by the apex court to fill the vacancies.
