About Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D)

The Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D) was established in 1970 to assist the Central Government in coordinating efforts in Police training and research. It conducts systematic studies on Police and Prison problems and promotes the application of science and technology in police work. The Bureau is responsible for improving and developing training programmes for Police Forces at the Centre and States, as well as for prison personnel of different ranks. Additionally, the BPR&D advises the Ministry of Home Affairs on Police and Prison matters, focusing on technical and operational aspects. It also provides guidance to the Central Government on the development and modernization of Police Forces.

About the Opportunity

The BPR&D initiated its Internship Programme in 2017 to provide students from various Universities and Research Institutes an opportunity to learn about its programmes and activities, while contributing effectively to advancing the objectives of the BPR&D in fulfilling its mandate.

Duration of the Internship

The BPR&D offers two internship plans:

  1. One-Month Internship (30 days): The total number of working days should be at least 22.
  2. Two-Month Internship (60 days): The total number of working days should be at least 44.

  1. Eligible Subjects: Students pursuing Post Graduation, M.Phil, or Ph.D. in the following disciplines can apply:
