About Aliah University

Aliah University – a State University under the Department of Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education, Government of West Bengal – came into existence through the Aliah University Act (Act XXVII of 2007) passed by the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.

The Act came into force on 5 April 2008. However, its parent institution – from which it was upgraded to a University – was usually mentioned in various old Government records varyingly as Calcutta Mohammedan College or Calcutta Madrasah or Aliah Madrasah, which the British Governor-General Warren Hastings established in 1780.

About the Seminar

The Department of Law, Aliah University, Kolkata, is organizing a National-Level Seminar to address the evolution, current trends, and issues related to Constitutional rights. The seminar’s main goals are to examine recent significant developments in the Constitution of India and provide practical examples to enhance attendees’ understanding of specific aspects of it.

The Seminar aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and perspectives on the Indian Constitution among educators, legal experts, practitioners, Human Rights activists, and individuals in their respective fields.

The seminar will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Aliah University, Park Circus Campus, 17 Gora Chand Road, Kolkata—700014.

Who is it for?

All students, academicians, research scholars, lawyers and other interested candidates are eligible to participate in the seminar.
