Event Overview:

The Center for Corporate and Commercial Law, School of Law, NIMS University, in collaboration with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), is thrilled to present the National Hybrid Moot Court Competition 2024. This prestigious event will be held in a hybrid format with virtual preliminary rounds and in-person semi-final and final rounds at the ICSI courtroom in Jaipur. The competition promises an intellectually stimulating experience, showcasing the finest legal minds nationwide.

Event Schedule:

• Registration Deadline: 15th October 2024.
• Moot Proposition Releasing Date: 1^st week of October.
• Theme of the Moot: Corporate Governance, Company Law, and AI.
• Memorial Submission Deadline: 5th November 2024
  • Deduction of 0.25 (marks) per team for every three hours of late submission.
  • No submissions accepted after 7th November 2024.
• Preliminary Rounds (Virtual): 9th – 10th November 2024. It will be organized by the School of Law, NIMS University.
• Semi-Final and Final Rounds (Offline): 23rd November 2024, at the Court Room of ICSI, Jaipur.

Registration Fee: Rs. 2500 per team

Prizes:

• Best Team: Rs. 30,000 /- + Trophy, Merit Certificate, Internship at ICSI & prestigious law firms.
• Runner-Up Team: Rs. 20,000 /- + Trophy and Merit Certificate, Internship at ICSI & prestigious law firms.
• Best Memorial: Rs. 10,000 /- + Trophy and Merit Certificate, Internship at ICSI & prestigious law firms.
• Best Speaker: Rs. 10,000 /- + Trophy and Merit Certificate, Internship at ICSI & prestigious law firms.

Best Speaker and Best Memorial will be shortlisted based on preliminary virtual rounds.

All participants will get a combined certificate of participation from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and NIMS University.

Accommodation: Free accommodation for 1 day during the offline round.

Participation: Multiple teams from the same institute are welcome.

Eligibility: 3 Year and 5 Year Course Law Students of any stream.

About the Center for Corporate and Commercial Law:

The Center for Corporate and Commercial Law was inaugurated at the School of Law, NIMS University, on 22nd July 2024. It was established under the strategic leadership and vision of key legal experts and academicians. The initiative was guided by the Pro-Chancellor of NIMS University, with support from the Chairman of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India Jaipur Chapter and the Principal of the School of Law.

The centre aims to foster advanced research and practical learning in the areas of corporate and commercial law, benefiting students and professionals alike. The Assistant Professor and Faculty Convenor, Mr Piyush Bharti, an alumnus of NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, along with Assistant Professor and Co-Convenors Mr Himanshu Kumar (alumnus NALSAR Hyderabad), Assistant Professorand faculty member Ms. Prachi Kumari (alumnus of Chanakya National Law University, Patna), and Assistant Professorand faculty member Mr. Zeeshan Ahmad (NALSAR Hyderabad), provide a strong foundation of legal expertise to lead this centre. The establishment of this centre aligns with NIMS University’s vision to be a hub for excellence in legal education and research, particularly in corporate law.

Past Moot Event:

NIMS University proudly hosted the ‘All-India Inter-University Moot Court Competition 2023,’ sponsored by the Bar Council of India[1]. This landmark event, held from 19th to 21st August 2023, marked the first time an all-India Inter-University Moot Court Competition took place in Jaipur. The competition brought together over 60 universities and law schools from across India, providing a platform for students to showcase their legal skills and engage in meaningful debates.

Competition Highlights

• Format: The competition will feature compelling hypothetical cases designed by legal experts. Participants will engage in rigorous legal research, analysis, and argumentation. Refer to the moot proposition for rules of memo drafting.
• Judging Panel: The panel will include distinguished sitting NCLT judges, sitting or retired judges, renowned legal professionals, and esteemed academicians, ensuring a thorough and fair evaluation process.
• Networking: The event will allow students to interact with leading legal professionals, academicians, and peers.

Special Guests: The competition will be graced by the Chairman of ICSI, Judges of NCLT, Associates from prestigious Law firms and prominent legal professionals, adding prestige and depth.
