TMC leader Mahua Moitra has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court against the government’s order to evict her from her government bungalow, citing her pending expulsion case in the Supreme Court. She challenges the validity of the order to cancel her accommodation and seek eviction by 2024. Moitra has requested the court to let her stay at her current residence until the 2024 general elections are announced, promising to pay any charges. The case will be heard by Justice Subramonium Prasad. Earlier, the Lok Sabha expelled Moitra based on an Ethics Committee recommendation. Moitra has challenged her expulsion from Lok Sabha in the Supreme Court and stated that she is not disqualified from running for elected office. Eviction from government accommodation would hinder her ability to carry out activities necessary for the upcoming general elections. Moitra, a woman living alone in Delhi, has no alternative residence and would face a burden of finding and shifting to a new residence while campaigning. The petition was filed by advocates Hrishika Jain, Natasha Maheshwari, and Aman Naqvi.
