Legal Aid Work Neglected: CJI UU Lalit Urges Young Law Graduates

Chief Justice of India UU Lalit recently observed that legal aid is a neglected area of ​​law in India and suggested that young lawyers should devote some time to it.

CJI Lalit, who was the working chairman of the National Legal Services Authority from May 2021 till he was elevated as the Chief Justice, was addressing the convocation ceremony for the final year law students of National Law University, Cuttack, Orissa.

“Being involved in legal aid work, I don’t mean to complain or show disrespect, but legal aid is neglected in this country. Think about it to some extent and devote some time to it. Make it compassionate Think with, it will guide you to give back to the society. Best wishes to all of you. In your new endeavors, dimensions, with the respect that the society will now provide,” he said.

Learning from his 38 years of experience in the Bar and Bench, CJI Lalit told the fresh law graduates that they should have a passion for it and immerse themselves in it to the best of their ability.

He further added that not only the passion for the law, but also the compassion for fellow human beings required for a fulfilling career. “Have a code of conduct towards your fellow human beings. Apart from corporate law and litigation, one of the options to be considered is judicial service. It is the most promising and satisfactory,” said the Chief Justice of India.
