The Kannur district panchayat in Kerala had filed an application in the apex court seeking the euthanization of rabid or dangerous dogs because of their increased attacks in the district.

The application states that an 11 year old child was killed by these stray dogs only in the Kannur district and a similar incident with a 12 year old child had also taken place last year in the Kottayam district. There are even other several cases also which the district had witnessed and all are especially targeted to the children. And not only this incident restricts itself to children, even various domestic animals are also killed.

Hence due to the abundance of the cases only that the district panchayat has pleaded Supreme Court for these stray dogs euthanization.
