Role description
As a corporate lawyer, you will be responsible for providing legal advice and support on a various legal matter, including compliance, corporate governance, contracts management, and other general commercial, corporate & financial transactions.
Key Responsibilities :
- Draft, review, and negotiate with counter parties, a wide range of corporate agreements, commercial contracts, Government tender documents, and all types of legal correspondences and to ensure that legal, commercial and financial interest of the Company remain protected.
- Handling all types of litigations Civil, Commercial, Criminal etc) against and by the Company, which include, understanding and studying underlying transactions, facts, documents etc, conducting legal research, coordination with litigating lawyers by way of providing preparing notes, brief, facts etc, assisting in drafting of petitions, legal submissions, preparing evidences, providing relevant case-laws etc. It is expected that you will handle all minor litigations (like cheque bouncing, civil matters etc) independently but for major and complex litigation you will assist the Legal Head in all respects.
- Keep the top management, corporate team and business team updated with latest regulatory changes and developments with respect to laws applicable to the Company and provide guidance and recommendations as needed.
- Collaborate with other members of the cross-functional teams to provide integrated legal support to achieve business objectives.
- Attend and assist the management on all tasks, projects etc as may be assigned from time to time.
Requirement :
- minimum 6 years of experience as corporate lawyer with company (preferred) or legal firm. The experience of working in listed company shall be added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of commercial, civil & corporate laws and reasonable knowledge of criminal laws is required. The exposure to corporate governance, securities regulations, and drafting of commercial contracts, tender documents etc will be preferred.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills. Proficiency in English is expected.
- Exposure to IT tools/software, use of AI in legal filed will be an added advantage.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Also flexibility in working with unstructured jobs is expected.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-lawyers.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment.
