Role description

The Corporate Counsel, India will report to the eCS US Chief Legal Officer with a dotted line to Head of Corporate Services for eCS India to assist on all aspects of legal and compliance operations of the business with a primary focus on drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and administrating contractual documents that establish business relationships with vendors, customers, employees, and partners. This position will work across the business partnering with all functional areas as well as external legal counsel and partners, and requires expertise to structure and negotiate contracts, as well as analyses contracts to ensure compliance with company policy, government specifications and other requirements.

In addition, this position will support all aspects of eCS US legal needs and work closely with eCS legal team members located in the US on US and certain EU and other global corporate law matters.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

Education & Experience

L.L.B. from a premier college/university having 4 – 9 years of experience preferably as in-house counsel

Biotech, pharmaceutical, life science, software technology and licensing experience is highly preferred

Experience in all corporate law matters (contract, employment, intellectual property, data privacy, risk and compliance, etc.) for Indian, US and various EU/global jurisdictions

Familiarity with Indian state, federal and international data privacy and security regulations

Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels of organization

Demonstrates ability to take initiative beyond direct responsibilities

Must have excellent communication and writing skills

Experience redlining and negotiating contracts

Must have discretion and maintain confidentiality

Demonstrates professional and positive demeanor and is perceived as highly competent

Ability to complete high volume of work in a timely and thorough manner with minimal rework

Ability to work well as part of a team and independently

Must be well-organized, highly detail-oriented, and able to manage numerous projects and conflicting demands in a fast-paced environment

High proficiency with computer systems and programs such as Microsoft Office, Adobe/Adobe Sign, CobbleStone Contract Insight contract management software, Thomson Reuters Practical Law and CoCounsel AI, legal research tools, etc.
