About the Internship
The Department of Legal Affairs offers an internship programme aimed at providing practical exposure to legal research, court functioning, and advisory work across various domains such as constitutional law, administrative law, finance law, infrastructure law, and more.
Eligibility Criteria
- Indian students who have:
• Completed 2nd year of a 3-year LL.B. course, or
• Completed 3rd year of a 5-year LL.B. course, or
• Graduated in law from a recognized university - Basic knowledge of computers (MS Office, etc.) is preferred
Duration of Internship
- The internship is typically for 1 month
- It generally commences from the first working day of each month
Selection Process
- Maximum of 50 candidates per month
- Selection is based on first-come, first-served basis, subject to guidelines and shortlisting
Work Exposure / Deployment
Selected interns may be deployed in:
- Main Secretariat, New Delhi
- Central Agency Section at Supreme Court
- Litigation Sections in High Courts
- Branch Secretariats at Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru
Stipend / Honorarium
- Interns may receive an honorarium of Rs. 5000 upon successful completion of the internship
Important Conditions
- Minimum 90% attendance is mandatory
- Internship is full-time and physical
- Interns must maintain confidentiality and adhere to departmental rules
- No assurance of employment post internship
