About the Opportunity
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has invited applications for its CBI Law Internship Scheme-2026 for law students across India.
The internship aims to provide practical exposure to investigation and prosecution work while enabling interns to work closely with CBI officers and legal professionals.
About the Internship
Under the internship scheme, selected interns shall be attached with officers of CBI at:
- Delhi
- Mumbai
- Chennai
- Kolkata
- Lucknow
- Bangalore
Interns may assist in:
- Legal research
- Data collection and collation
- Court-related work
- Investigation and prosecution support
Number of Interns
A total of 30 interns shall be selected under the scheme.
Internship Duration
Duration: 3 Months to 6 Months
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for the internship should:
- Be citizens of India
- Be law students enrolled in reputed law universities/institutes
For 5-Year LL.B. Programme
- Candidate should be undergoing or have completed the 8th semester
For 3-Year LL.B. Programme
- Candidate should be undergoing or have completed the 4th semester
Internship Exposure
Selected interns may gain practical exposure to:
- Investigation and prosecution work
- Legal research and court judgments
- Preparation of:
- Court applications
- Replies
- Trial documentation
- Presentation of evidence/documents
- Examination of witnesses
- Trial and pairvi work
- Legal drafting and data collection
Important Conditions
Important Conditions of Internship:
- No stipend/payment shall be provided
- Interns must arrange their own stay and travel
- CBI shall not provide medical or other facilities
- Internship does not guarantee future employment in CBI
- Interns are required to sign an “Oath of Secrecy”
Documents Required
Candidates are required to upload:
- Photograph
- Signature
- Proof of Date of Birth
- Mark sheets from 10th onwards
- Enrollment status letter from college/institute
- Recommendation letter from Principal/HOD
