IN ATIQUE AHMED MURDER THE PRAYAGRAJ COURT HAS REMANDED THE 3 SHOOTERS TO A 4 DAY POLICE CUSTODY

On 15th of April, 2023 (Saturday) gangster turned politician Atique Ahmed Ashraf and his brother were shot by three people disguised as journalists.

The three accused namely Sunny Singh (23) of Hamirpur, Lavlesh Tiwari (22) of Banda, and Arun Maurya (18) 0f Kasganj, shot the Ahmed brothers at point blank range. The incident occurred in presence of media as well as the security force.

The Ahmed brothers were being taken to a hospital in Prayagraj for their routinely medical check-up, where while talking to the media who were covering the whole matter that night, were shot at point blank by three men who masked themselves as media persons and opened fire on the duo. The death of Ahmed brothers came just two days after Atique’s son Asad’s killing. Asad was killed in an encounter on the 13th of April, 2023.

The gun men were taken into custody while their weapons as well as the motor cycle they used had been recovered. Media reports alleged that the accused are in custody and being interrogated. After this incident section 144 had been imposed across the state and a high alert had been issued.

The alleged attackers have been registered under IPC section 302 along with sections 3, 7, 25 and 27 of the Arms Act, 1959 and other applicable sections.

A Magistrate Court in Uttar Pradesh in regards to the Atique Ahmed Ashraf Killing has sent three accused to a 4-day police custody, they are next summoned by court on April 23rd. Earlier a court in Prayagraj had sent the three accused to a 14-day judicial custody.

Moreover, the Government of Uttar Pradesh has set up a judicial commission to investigate the matter under the commission of Inquiry Act 1952. The inquiring is to be led by retired Allahabad High Court Judge Arvind Kumar Tripathi.
