Suneetha Reddy, the daughter of YS Vivekananda Reddy, a former Member of Parliament from Kadapa who was murdered, has approached the Supreme Court to express concerns about the actions of the initial complainant, Krishna Reddy, in the case[1].

On Friday, a bench comprising Justices PV Sanjay Kumar and Krishna Murari granted permission to Suneetha’s application for inclusion in the petition. The petition was originally filed by Krishna Reddy, who sought clarification on a previous order stating that he is considered a “victim” with the right to challenge the granting of pardons to the accused in the case. Vivekananda’s personal assistant was Krishna Reddy. The Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI, has also been notified by the Court and the matter will be heard on July 3.

Through her advocate Jesal Wahi, Suneetha Reddy submitted an application claiming that Krishna Reddy was attempting to present himself as a victim despite his involvement in the crime. Krishna Reddy recently informed the Supreme Court that he was contesting the pardon given to one of the co-accused. In her application, Suneetha argued that the complainant’s petition was filed on behalf of the accused to obstruct the investigation.

In his submission to the court on Friday, senior counsel Sidharth Luthra pointed out that only Suneetha and her mother can be regarded as victims under the law[2]. After Luthra had mentioned it, the application was accepted.

In January this year the Supreme Court revoked the bail already granted to Gangi Reddy.
