The Collegium of the Supreme Court comprising Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, and headed by the Chief Justice of India, Dr. Justice D. Y. Chandrachud on the 17th of August, 2023 recommended Additional Judge Justice C. S. Sudha as a permanent judge of the Kerala HC and has passed a resolution regarding the matter. The Collegium of Kerala High Court on the 21st of June, 2023 had recommended the name of Justice Sudha for the matter unanimously and the SC Collegium after considering and assessing the suitability, merits and other relevant materials have resolved for recommendation of elevated designation of Smt. Justice Sudha.
Reportedly, both the Chief Minister and Governor were informed of this recommendation before it was sent to the Collegium of Supreme Court. The resolution was initiated after consultation and a detailed conversation with the apex court judges acquainted with the Kerala HC to assess the suitability of the mentioned Justice’s appointment as a permanent judge.
Subsequently, after considering every single aspect required, the Collegium has found that Justice Sudha is suitable and fit for the post and has resolved to recommend her to be appointed as permanent judge of the Kerala HC.
