The CBI has arrested two men and two women on a case registered on 23rd august in connection with the two Manipuri students who are suspected to be killed in the Manipur violence as per the officials said. In connection with that a special court has granted a 5-day custody to the four accused to CBI.
Phijam Hemanjit (20) and Hijam Linthoingambi, a girl aged 17 years, had gone missing on July 6.
All the accused were to be present to the court again on October 7. CBI has enough material against the four accused which can grant them a 5-day custody to the accused.
Along with this, agencies have deployed enough women police officers during the arrest of the women accused and all the legal formalities has been followed, and the child welfare officer has been directed to take proper care of the two minor daughters of the accused persons.
A violent protest has occurred since after the photographs purportedly showing the bodies of two Manipuri youths went viral on September 25.
From the last two months Manipur has been the central point of violence and distress. After the solidarity march organised in the hill district to protest against the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe status. In this violent clash more than 180 have been killed and many injured.
