BOMBAY HIGH COURT ASKS TO IMPLEAD MOSQUE TRUST USING LOUD  SPEAKERS FOR AZAN

 The division bench of chief justice R D Dhanuka and justice G S Kulkarni was hearing a petition which is seeking directions to end noise pollution created by the mosque called Gausiya mosque trust in Kandivali. The noise pollution and control rules 2000 provided that the 100 meters area within educational institutions, hospitals and courts must be declared as silence zones. An amendment was introduced in 2017 with a provision that no area shall fall under the silence zone without specific notification from the state government.

The matter will be heard on June 19 and Richard had claimed that the area was questioned as a silenced zone because ESIS hospital was nearby. No actions were taken by the police against her complaints against the early morning loud speakers on may 8th and May 12th. The advocate appearing for the mosque trust claimed that the mosque trust had already submitted that the mosque is not within the silence zone as the hospital was shifted 2.5 kilometers away. A P Yagnik the assistant public prosecutor had submitted that the mosque was granted the permission to use loud speakers till may 31st subject to certain circumstances. These statements were accepted by the court and the state was asked to decide subsequent applications as per the permissions of law.
