After a student’s suicide, the Kerala High Court authorises police security for Amal Jyothi College.

The Kerala High Court on Friday ordered police security for Amal Jyothi College  in the midst of fights by understudy political bodies after an understudy ended it all in its lodging [Amal Jyothi College of Designing and Anr. v. Kerala State and Others]

In an effort to prevent protesters from obstructing the college’s gates, Justice N. Nagaresh issued an interim order granting police protection to the campus for a month.

A 20-year-old female college student was discovered hanging in her room at the college hostel on June 2.

The occurrence started gigantic fights in the grounds and furthermore prompted a few understudies taking to virtual entertainment to feature different issues they have looked at the college including the provocation from faculty, moral policing, and so on.

On June 6, a number of individuals from student political organizations such as the Students Federation of India (SFI), Kerala Students Union (KSU), Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), and Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) gathered at the main gates of its campus and yelled abusive slogans, according to the plea made by the college. These individuals are also alleged to have obstructed access to and from the college.

Some of them led dharnas before the school entryway, the request said, causing a “prisoner like circumstance bringing about all out breakdown of the rule of law”.

In any case, no move was made by the police staff who were available there to control or dispense the group, the supplication asserted.

In addition, the petition stated that the college’s management was forced to close the college, resulting in hardship for the students and affecting university exams and admissions for new students.

Accordingly, the ordered looked for police security for its staff and property to guarantee the support of the rule of law around its ground
